Convert Files to and from PDF

A PDF converter usually has two jobs: turning a document or photo into a PDF, or turning a PDF back into something you can edit. Each direction has its own tool here, so the settings match the file you start with.

A scanned PDF is a picture of a page with no text inside it. Run it through OCR PDF first, then convert it to Word or text.

Compress a PDF to an Exact Size

Upload forms usually state their limit in KB or MB. Pick that number and Compress PDF targets it, down to 20 KB. If a portal says "under 1 MB", choose 1000 KB: some sites count 1 MB as 1,024 KB and some as 1,000, so 1000 KB passes both.

Edit a PDF in Your Browser

The PDF Editor opens your file in the browser, with nothing to download or install. It takes PDFs up to 10 MB.

  • Change or add text, including on filled-in forms
  • Insert images and move them on the page
  • Highlight, draw and add notes
  • Save a clean copy with no watermark

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about converting, compressing and editing PDF files online with PDFNoob.

What can I convert with PDFNoob?

Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CSV, JPG, PNG and TXT files convert to PDF, and a PDF converts to Word, JPG, PNG, BMP, text, Markdown or a ZIP archive. Each pair has its own tool, such as Word to PDF or PDF to JPG, so the options match your file.

How do I convert a file to PDF?

Drop the file in the box at the top of this page and pick the matching tool, such as Word to PDF or JPG to PDF. The tool converts the file and gives you a download. A Word file under 5 MB takes about 10 seconds.

Can I turn a PDF back into Word or JPG?

Yes. PDF to Word rebuilds the text as an editable DOCX file, and PDF to JPG saves each page as an image. If the PDF is a scan, run it through OCR PDF first, because a scanned page is a picture with no text for Word to pick up.

Is PDFNoob safe to use?

Yes. Files travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection and are deleted within 1 hour, and PDFNoob doesn't index their contents or use them to train AI. Some tools, such as Rotate PDF, run in your browser and never upload the file at all.

Does PDFNoob add a watermark?

No. PDFNoob doesn't add a watermark, logo or stamp to files you convert, compress or edit. The file you download holds only your own content, so you can email it, print it or upload it to a form straight away.

Why does my file work in one tool but not another?

Each tool sets its own size limit. The PDF Editor and PDF to PNG take files up to 10 MB, Word to PDF up to 20 MB, the AI tools up to 30 MB, and most other PDF tools up to 50 MB. If a file is too big, Compress PDF can usually bring it under the limit.
